First Dance
FIRST DANCE
Clay: Speckled Stoneware, Mother of Pearl Lustre
I'll never forget the first time I watched people really dance in a nightclub. Not just shuffling backwards and forwards but proper dancing - the kind that makes people stop, stare and admire.
I knew straight away I wanted to do that. I just needed someone to teach me. I asked everyone at school who had a dance move to share.
One day, I knocked on Andrew's door and asked for his older brother Ken. This shoe represents the era of the Clark’s Wallabee - strongly associated with identity, cultural heritage, music, individuality and belonging.
"Ken, will you teach me to dance?"
And just like that, my journey into dance began.
